PAUL COHEN (saxophone) has appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, Richmond Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, Charleston Symphony and Philharmonia Virtuosi. Cohen’s recent endeavors include Artist in Residency at the Royal College of Music and Dance in Cardiff Wales as well as performances at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other stages with the New York Philharmonic, New Hudson Saxophone Quartet and the Manhattan Sinfonietta. Cohen’s recordings include the newly discovered classical saxophone concerto of the 19th-century American composer Caryl Florio, and a solo CD, Vintage Saxophones Revisited. He is also featured on two recent releases by the New Hudson Saxophone Quartet. The Presser Music Company published his arrangement for saxophone choir of Variations on America by Charles Ives (2008), and Boosey and Hawkes issued Cohen’s saxophone quartet arrangements of music by Aaron Copland. His company, To the Fore Publishers, publishes his other arrangements as well as other saxophone works. Cohen teaches at Manhattan School of Music, Rutgers University, New York University, Montclair State University and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, and is director of the Saxophone Institute at the New York Summer Music Festival in Oneonta. He holds M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from the Manhattan School of Music.
