Today's daily countdown update is the first movement of Seymour Barab's Suite for Trumpet, Alto Saxophone, and Piano. The entire piece is included on my soon-to-be-released CD "Quiet City". In addition to being a composer Seymour is also a cellist. I had lunch with him in January and he asked me to tell him more about myself. I mentioned that I lived in NYC for eight years and played at Birdland a few times, at which point he interrupted me saying, "I've played at Birdland...with Bird!" I felt it was time for me to stop talking and just listen.
